Do i need to be paranoid?

within 10 mins of the post below about commiting treason i noticed that my site had recieved the following hit:

IP Address
150.226.95.# (USAISC-Fort Benning)
150.226.95.18
Location
Continent : North America
Country : United States (Facts)
State : Georgia
City : Columbus
Lat/Long : 32.4901, -84.9247 (Map)

i will assume that it is a coincedence, but only becuase experience tells me that so. If they were that efficent that they spotted me threatening to commit treason i would also assume that they would have the inteligence to cover there tracks a bit better..........or maybe thats what they want me to think.......oh bugger it i'm going for a drink.

EDIT: Got bored and browsed the web and just discovered that USAISC stands for: United States Army Information Systems Command.

Willing to commit treason

I've not really used this blog for anything as i get to grips with what it can do. However, i have decided to join with blairwatch and (oddly enough) Boris Johnson a conservative MP and the editor of the spectator. I have pledged to publish the downing street memo in which it is alleged that a threat was made to bomb Al-Jazeera.

A fleet street editor has been threatened with the Official secrets act if he publishes the memo.

The rights and wrongs of the war are one thing but:
  • Threatening to bomb a media station should be a big no no.
  • Using the official secrets act to prevent politically sensitive information is beyond the remit of any democraticly elected government.
Therefore i have pledged to publish and share the memo as part of a mass protest.

If my government goes to war i have the right to agree or disagree with them, thats democracy.

When there is a serious allegation that the same government is involved with threats against legitimate media outlets followed by the use of the laws designed to protect the national security for political gain the facts need to come out.

The Most Interesting Huddersfield Train Station

Huddersfield Train Station
Originally uploaded by Stuart Davies.
I never thought i would say this but according to Flickr a picture of Huddersfield Station is the most interesting i have taken. Now its a nice photo, good colours and i like the way the station is empty.

Its also a nice station. A listed building that has been described as a stately home with trains in it. That famous bloke, Pesvner, said some nice but instantly forgetable things about it.

But Flickr has some oozit that works out 'intrestingness'.........how, how thats what i want to know.

Any way to try and keep an eye on what Flickr thinks is interesting i have ranked the top ten and created a set which can be seen here

As i think i mentioned below, this week we have had the first real cold snap. The world was changed overnight with a sparkly frosting. In the morning with the sun low on the horizon the world looked like narnia. It was very very hard to capture the scene and i think i have only hinted at it in the photos i took.

But never mind, now there is the chance of some snow next week.....well according to Metcheck anyway. So hopefully i'll get the chance to go walking next week end and get some shots in the snow.

Celebrating 'nearly' beating the 'All Blacks'

Yesterday England played New Zealand, and lost. That simple discription just doesnt cover the blistering nature of the drama this game gave. When you compare it to last week end against Australia it was a victory of sorts. England played like a team for the first time in ages and despite a few stupid handling errors gave the All Blacks some serious competition (something they didnt get last week against Ireland).

A better discription of the game can be found either at the Guardian or the New Zealand Herald.

End result we retired happy but dejected to a smaller venue. The emptyness is testament to the problem of being a union fan in the birth place of league.

Today was the first real frost

Today was the first real frost.

Not much to say about it really, nothing like the frosts i used to see down in Oxford. The one thing about living in a valley is that the frosts are not as severe...... I miss the frost:(

Any way the photos, some good ones actually can be found here.

Two Men and Wheelchair

Part of the reason for this blog is to compliment my postings on Flickr. For those that dont know its a photo sharing website allowing you to post your own and then browse other peoples (and leave comments etc as you go along).

One of the features on the site is that it ranks the hits for each of your photos, which is strangly addictive. Its weird you find your self checking your top ten (well i do any way) in the same way you checked the charts when you were young.

The current leader by far is the above photo. It only had about 10-14 hits and someone suggested dropping into a group, Rock That Disability!, after which it shot up to 60+ in the space of week.

Its not a great photo, becuase of the rain its not in focus and the colour is flat but i do like the subject.

We were on the beach and resting in a boat was the wheelchair. Which at the time I thought was a particularliy sureal sight (its a very rocky bay). However, then the man with the bucket came back to get the chair for his friend. They are both fishermen based in Robin Hoods Bay.

To this day I am so impressed that this man has the b*lls to go out in a boat and the stamina to push his wheelchair over the extremaly rough ground of the bay. The end result is that i just love this photo. I am probably overlaying a cliched stereotype on these guys but to me it seems a typical yorkshire approach to adversity.

Huddersfield Festival Of Light

Originally uploaded by Stuart Davies.
Huddersfield has for the past couple of years held a festival of light. This year it involved a troupe of spanish 'drummers' and 'dancers' who led a parade through town with fireworks. At the end they burnt what can only be described as an effergy. For those interested I have a collection of photos here on Flickr.

It was supprisingly organsied by the local council (and supprisingly fun). The local council web site described it as:

Join composers, performers and visitors from around the world for the Festival of Light - a breathtaking fusion of music, fireworks and light set against the historic backdrop of St George's Square. Procession starts 7.00pm start outside Head of Steam public house. Finale 7.45pm (approx) St George's Square.

This year's Festival of Light to celebrate the opening of the Huddersfield Contemporary Music festival will feature Xarxa, one of Europe's leading outdoor companies who specialise in theatrical spectacles based around imaginative use of fireworks.

The spectacle is El Foc del Mar , a colourful procession where performers will dance around St George's Square and around the streets of Huddersfield to the strains of a percussion band, with hand held fireworks, culminating in a finale based on a 'Falla' - a beautiful 12' high structure, inspired by the Spanish artist Joan Miro, which is set on fire. This is a performance by Xarxa from Spain, one of Europe's leading outdoor companies who specialise in theatrical spectacles based around imaginative use of fireworks.

Taking a route through Huddersfield Town Centre, the finale will take place in front of the railway station in St George's Square

A correfoc has its origins in Spain ( corre = run and foc = fire ) and is a colourful fiesta or procession of sparklers, firecrackers, and roman candles, where troupes of devils and dragons, dance to the strains of an accompanying percussion band as they weave through the streets and crowds.

The Reason

I guess the usual reason for a blog is to whitter on about stuff, or rant and rave about other stuff. I'm going out on a limb here but this will be just the same. So i will just keep babbling away to my self about the the things going on in my life and if any one passes through and has anything to say then thats good. If not hen thats good too.

The chances are that the things i will talk about are as follows; politics, history, photography, cooking, my wedding plans, walking and possibly riding. Oh and a variety of other vagabond ideas that happen to wander through my mind. I will try to aviod work but i am sure that it will make an apperance.

Things that anyone wandering through will have to forgive. Spelling, i have always been a bit creative in that field. Nothing i say is said to offend, if you find offence then thats yours to deal with.
